Summary

Learn or refresh your knowledge on assisting OAS with summer adventures. This is a brand new training for every volunteer aimed to set you up for success on ANY lesson or activity with OAS. We will go through scheduling logistics, packing gear and assisting with transfers and fit-ups for all of our summer sports.

Description

This is the first season we are offering this multi-sport training!  This training aims to cover the information needed to assist with any of our summer activities. To improve skills in particular elements, keep an eye out for Sport/Population Specific Trainings offered throughout June 2019. Volunteers are expected to lift and carry 50lbs, please let us know if you have any limitations around movement and carrying capacity so we can adapt!

  • Scheduling logistics 
  • Equipment overview
  • Packing the vehicles & moving equipment
  • Disability Etiquette 
  • Assisting on lessons
  • Assisting transfers
  • Assisting Equipment Fit-Ups
  • Other necessary skills or information

Details: 

This training is held outside. Be prepared for variable weather, moving around and active learning.  

Things to bring: 

  • Layers for heat or cold, wet or dry
  • water bottle
  • sunscreen 
  • sun protection (hat, sunglasses, etc)
  • close-toed shoes 
  • clothes you can move in
